What do we do?
And who are we in the first place? We are Wycombe Environment Centre, a registered charity established in 2001.
We run a number of different projects.
Our mission is to bring together, inspire and empower people to drive practical and positive action in response to the climate and ecological crisis.
Our vision for Refresh the Marketplace is to build a community upcycling marketplace of services and activities where people share, repair, make and create, teach and learn, providing easy alternatives to guying new, reducing waste and carbon, through the circular economy.

Refresh Shop
In the Chiltern Shopping Centre, we call ourselves an upcycling centre, we are also known as an Aladdin’s cave - so many things to be creative with, and everything we have is saved from going to waste, much of it brand new.
We are all volunteers, and you can join to help serve customers, sort stock, design posters, help with emails - whatever floats your boat I’m sure we have something to suit!
Take a look at our home page or contact shop@refreshwycombe.org to find out more.

Repair Cafe
Set up in Covid, our repair cafe is now well established, once a month (second Saturday) in All Saints Church in the centre of High Wycombe.
We always have people who can do mechanical and electrical repairs, and textiles. We have some specialists too.
Take a look at our webpage or Contact repaircafe@refreshwycombe.org to find out more.

School Scheme
State schools can come and use our stock in exchange for an annual fee, less than £100. No membership card, no fuss. We can save you money as we are very good value!
Sometimes we ask schools to limit what they take, and commercial products are not in the scheme, but we have loads of paper and card, and materials for junk modelling.
Take a look at the web page or contact schools@refreshwycombe.org to find out more.

Share: a Library of Things
We are starting very small and simple with some summer party kit - drop into the Chiltern Shopping Centre on a Saturday morning to book. We hope it will be able to grow into something more.
A library of things allows you to borrow bits of kit you only use occasionally, like a power drill or a special cake tin. It means we don’t all need to have one, which reduces the raw material and energy we need to take to make them. And it saves us all money!
If this sounds like a good idea to you, drop an email to info@refreshwycombe.org and we’ll get in touch.

Wycombe Environment Projects
This is a bunch of people who want to Boost Biodiversity and Cut Carbon, by helping to make changes happen.
We set up the repair cafe, and ran ‘bee squared’ for a number of years - now we plant bulbs every autumn.
We meet every Monday on zoom for half an hour to keep projects moving.
If you’d like to know more, drop an email to info@refreshwycombe.org.

Working with others!
We love working with other groups, and growing the strength of our community. There are lots of groups doing great things in High Wycombe, including the Pride of Place project which brings us all together.
Friends of the Earth meets regularly, and has a useful calendar of what’s on.
The Community and Climate Cafe meets monthly. They don’t have a website - drop an email to info@refreshwycombe.org and we'll pass on the message.
For nature conservation work there is Chiltern Rangers, and if the chalk streams are your thing there is Revive the Wye and Friends of the Wye.
For allotments and growing try Grow Together and for food Khepera will inspire you, and there’s also the bee keepers - loads to do!
And lots of litter picking groups - drop us an email on info@refreshwycombe.org to find out more.
