Terrific Tuesdays and Crafty Fridays
Over the school holidays this year, we partnered with All Saints Parish Church and Bucks New Uni, to provide free craft activities to local children.
We prepared 6 different craft packs, under the quietly crafty guidance of trustee, Ellen Hawes, who loves nothing better than to invent children’s activities when she is doing her stint in the shop. The packs were made up with the help of our lovely volunteers, and we provided them to All Saints for them to use on Tuesdays, and we also used the same packs in our sessions on Fridays - team work makes the dream work!
Clearly the surroundings of our shop can’t compete with the beautiful building of the parish church, so the Tuesday takers definitely had the better deal!
The aim of the sessions was to be able to give families an opportunity to be spontaneous and enjoy quality activities that don’t leave them out of pocket.
On average, All Saints had around 17 children attend each session, and we had another handful, so about two dozen children every week got to enjoy a Refresh craft pack! Thanks to staffing support, too, from BNU, at All Saints.
Nothing - of course - went to waste as the unused packs were returned to the shop stock for future occasions!
So together we all had Terrifically Good Tuesdays and Fabulously Crafty Fridays!
