The Refresh Creative Journal:
The Simple Art of Sustainable Living
Each month Refresh Online will share a simple, seasonal project—a gentle invitation to make the most of what’s already around you. Whether it’s yarn from the back of a cupboard or leftover odds and ends from our store, these small makes celebrate creativity with intention.
Check back each month for fresh ideas in sewing, mending, crafting, and creative reuse. It’s not about doing it all—it’s about doing what we can, with what we have, and finding joy in the simple art of sustainable living.
The Cosy Pumpkin
It has to be a pumpkin!
Our project for October is The Cosy Pumpkin
October arrives with golden leaves and the quiet pull of home comforts. It feels like the right moment for a small seasonal make: a knitted pumpkin, full of autumn charm.
The pattern was created by four mischievous makers who prefer to stay completely anonymous — like crafty little fairies sneaking through the yarn basket. They’ve left behind this simple, joyful pumpkin for anyone daring enough to follow their tricks!
Knit one as a keepsake, or gather a small patch to share with friends. Each will carry its own character, stitched with the spirit of October.
September: a postcard for the season
September is the season of gentle beginnings — when the first hints of autumn invite us indoors to make and mend. This month, we’re celebrating the beauty of scraps and leftovers with a simple, creative project: the fabric postcard.
